Each button-shaped natural pearl measuring approximately 15.67 x 16.06 x 13.90mm and 15.58 x 16.01 x 11.66mm respectively, weighing 27.80 and 20.66 carats including metal lining, suspended from a surmount set with a cushion- and two pear-shaped diamonds, pearls may be unscrewed and attached to additional ear stud fittings.

Provenance

Jewels from the Collection of Odile de Richelieu, Countess Gabriel de La Rochefoucauld, Princess de La Rochefoucauld (1879-1974).

Condition

Each with maker's marks for Bucherer. Stamped 750 for 18 carat gold; additional ear stud fittings similarly marked. According to the SSEF report, the two saltwater natural pearls measuring 15.67 - 16.06 x 13.90 mm and 15.58 - 16.01 x 11.66 mm, weighing 111.24 and 82.65 grains (including metal lining) are of light cream and slightly cream colour with rosé and green overtones. Pearls with good skin and lustre, some damage to reverse of one pearl (concealed when mounted). Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 2.50 carats, of mixed colours and clarities, as gauged in the mounting. Pearls simple to unscrew and easily screw onto additional ear stud fittings. Signs of wear to metal consistent with light use. In good condition. Total gross weight including addition fittings approximately 23 grams (white gold studs with diamonds approximately 7 grams, yellow gold studs approximately 5 grams).
