The whimsical design depicting an allegory of the night scene, the face of a woman peeking through a polished opal crescent moon atop billowing clouds applied with plique-à-jour enamel, circular- and single-cut diamonds, the clouds suspending a gold fringe of burning oil lamps, the pendant suspended from a fancy link chain, length approximately 800mm, unsigned, French assay marks.

Condition

Stamped with French assay marks for 18 carat gold. Engraved 1906 to the reverse, possibly indicating date of manufacture. Opal with mainly blue and green play of colour, in good condition. Blue enamel in good condition. Diamonds bright and lively. Clasp secure. Signs of normal wear to the metal, scratches consistent with use. In good condition.
