Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to the SSEF, Gubelin and AGL reports, the emeralds are of Colombian origin, with no clarity enhancement. Please refer to the reports for details. Also accompanied by AGL special appendix indicating the rarity of three matching emeralds of such top quality and size. In our opinion, the emeralds are of vibrant green colour, fine brilliance, very crystalline clean clarity that is not typical of emeralds (emeralds are commonly highly included). Under closer inspection, there are some minute inclusions. According to the GIA dossier reports, the diamonds are about D-E colours, VVS2 to VS2 clarity. Condition: In mint condition.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.

Catalogue Note

Accompanied by Gübelin, SSEF and AGL reports stating that the 8.76, 7.52 and 6.41 carat emeralds are natural, of Colombian origin, with no indications of clarity enhancement. Further accompanied by AGL letter stating that: "All three emeralds exhibit an intense and saturated green colour that is representative of top-quality stones from this auspicious source. Emeralds of such color and quality are considered to have originated from the Muzo mining district in Western flank of Cordillera Oriental. These outstanding emeralds also possess a high clarity. They have additionally been fashioned in a cushion-shape cutting style that gives them charm that is difficult to quantify. Such cutting provides a complement to the overall visual appeal of these remarkable gemstones. It is exceedingly difficult to find a trio of such well-matched, top-quality Colombian emeralds. AGL has developed a Match RatingTM that defines the comparative similarity in appearance of multiple gemstones and reflects the uniformity of all quality parameters. The three emeralds described in the above mentioned AGL reports have received a Match RatingTM of : Excellent. The category Excellent is the highest ranking and defines a matched pair of gemstones that is rare to achieve and reflects a high level of exclusivity." Further accompanied by four GIA reports, stating that the diamonds weighing 0.73, 0.73, 0.71 and 0.70 carat are D to E colour, VVS2 to VS1 clarity.
