Condition

Executed on cream wove paper, not laid down, hinged to the mount on the reverse of the top two corners. The sheet has darkened with age and the edges are mount stained (not visible when mounted). There are artist's pinholes and some slight handling creases at the top edge. Apart from some tiny losses to the green pigment, and some slight fading to the gouache, this work is in good condition. Colours: In comparison with the printed catalogue illustration, the grey tones are more neutral and not as purple, and the green is much fresher and less warm in the original.
