Catalogue Note

Over the last 30 years the Rolex Day-Date has, perhaps more than any other model, become the most recognized Rolex watch. Worn by many famous and influential people around the world, today the Day-Date is appreciated as one of the most iconic and successful wristwatch models ever made. Indeed, the Day-Date was the first automatic wristwatch to incorporate two apertures for both day and date indication. Although the essential look of the Day-Date has changed little in the years since its inception, rare versions exist and collectors seek out those with the rarest dials. The present example has an extraordinary burl wood dial, reminiscent of the dashboards of luxury cars.
