Description

  • 71cm high, 66cm diameter; 2ft 4in., 2ft 2in.
the pie-crust top with a bird cage action support on a turned and fluted stem, with acanthus knop on leaf and bell flower carved downswept legs on claw and ball feet

Condition

The beautifully figured top displaying marks and scratches consistent with age and use, notably a water stain which is restorable. One repaired crack to edge of top, later support to bird cage block to re-enforce earlier break. Chip to pin slot. Recently applied shellac to tripod that would benefit from treatment according to taste.

The pedestal of the present lot is almost identical to the previous lot, also from from the Percival D. Griffiths collection of English furniture, and could possibly be by the same hand.
