Description

  • A FINE AND VERY RARE YELLOW GOLD, DIAMOND, SAPPHIRE, RUBY, EMERALD, MOTHER-OF-PEARL, LAPIS LAZULI, ONYX AND ROCK CRYSTAL MANTEL CLOCK AND BROOCHCIRCA 1985

Quartz movement, mother-of-pearl dial with emerald set numerals, gold and diamond set hands, oval shaped case held between two large rock crystal twisted columns, with lapis lazuli and gold turned feet, the columns surmounted by elaborate gold and diamond set shaped capitals, held between the two columns is a massive and extremely ornate gold scorpion, set throughout with brilliant cut and baguette cut diamonds, the scorpion’s body and arms in onyx, hanging on one large tear drop shape mount is a large pear shaped cut ruby, above and hanging from its tail is a gold and diamond set tear drop mount centered by a large pear shaped cut sapphire, the whole scorpion jeweled design can also be removed from the mounting between the pillars and worn as a substantial brooch, the whole clock resting on an onyx base, above a large rectangular lapis lazuli and gold mounted plinth, case signed

Condition

Movement is currently in working order since the battery has recently been replaced. A very spectacular piece and heavily set with precious stones. Little signs of overall use. The pin attachment to the brooch is missing. This can easily be rectified by a skilled goldsmith and jeweler. Dial is clean.
