Condition

The panel is flat and even and ensuring a stable support. As visible in the catalogue illustration, in some areas (e.g. the figure's skin tones) the grain of the wood panel is faintly visible through the paint layer. Ultraviolet light reveals strokes of retouching primarily in the figure's cheek and neck. Apart from unevenness in the varnish (being thicker in areas of the figure's hair), this painting is in good overall condition. Held in a gilt roccoco-style frame
