The canvas has not been lined. Ultraviolet light reveals some very minor scattered spots of retouching, notably in the background through the doorway, a tiny spot in the face of the lady looking at the carpet, and in the column near the centre of the right framing edge. The signature appears to have been strengthened. This painting is in good condition and ready to hang.
Held in a decorative gilt frame, with trefoil ornaments.
The colours are somewhat more vibrant in reality than in the catalogue illustration.
