Browne ('Phiz'), bound from the parts with stab holes evident, contemporary half dark green morocco, marbled endpapers and edges, ownership inscriptions on front free endpaper, occasional slight spotting and browning, joints slightly worn and cracked at head and foot, some wear to extremities

Catalogue Note
Hard Times was the last work Hablot K. Browne illustrated for Dickens, a collaboration which spanned twenty-three years and included ten major novels. Dickens seems to have disliked the illustrations and removed them from presentation copies.
