Catalogue Note

A fine copy in a rare variant binding. This variant is not described by Eckel or Smith but possibly referred to in The Dickensian (1 September, 1943, p.175) which describes Bleak House as being in publisher's rose cloth. The vignette title-page is undated and therefore corresponds with Smith's secondary binding, although the text in this copy conforms to the textual characteristics of the first edition.
