Condition
Executed on brown wove paper, not laid down. The sheet is fixed to the mount at the upper corners and the edges are slightly irregular. There is a network of old flattened creases, notably towards the centre of the composition and running diagonally across the left corners. There is an 8 cm restored tear running vertically towards the centre of the lower edge and several other small tears and nicks to the extreme edges of the sheet (mostly invisible when framed). The tip of the lower right corner is missing. A close inspection reveals several artist's pinholes towards the corners and along the lower edge. There are three small nicks to the surface of the sheet: to the figure's lower right leg, to the jewellery box and to one of the red necklace beads. Apart from some time-staining, this work is in overall good condition.
