Description

  • INCENSE OFFERING GODDESS
  • ink and colour on paper, framed, 1942
with two seals of the artist, and one collector’s seal

Inscription:
Yellow gown, newly dyed and incense-fumed
Is taken on in place of the old rainbow dancing dress.
Granted the plea for true love be, the heaven will not grow old;
Being the rain and even the cloud will breed no grudge.
Imitated after the Incense Offering Goddess of the Tang dynasty at the Mogao Caves in the sixth lunar month of the renwu year, Yuan.

Condition

- Paper tear could be found at the ladies' chin. Foldlines are visible on the painting, as seen in the illustration. Otherwise, generally in fair to good condition.
