the central openwork pendant with colourful enamelling throughout, set in the front with rosettes featuring green and pink gemstones, the necklace composed of seed pearls separated by two cylindrical enamelled beads, with a woven rope for attachment

Condition

In good condition, some of stones are synthetic paste or glass and were possibly part of the original piece or later replacements, some ware to attachment cord, as viewed.

Catalogue Note

This beautiful necklace, set with a variety of colourful stones on a delicately worked filigree ground produces a luxurious effect. Similar necklaces are illustrated in Mann 2000, p.153 nos. 60-61 and Hasson 1987, p. 60, no 77. Further comparables in silver and a variety of designs of tazras are illustrated by Jean Besancenot in Bijoux Arabes et Berbres du Maroc, Casablanca, 1953, nos.10-22.
