Catalogue Note

The present glass flask is remarkable for the purity of its design. A similar flask, reportedly found in Mardha, Syria, and dated between the ninth and tenth century is in the Al-Sabah Collection, Kuwait National Museum (inv. no., LNS 328 G, illustrated in: Carboni 2001, p.122, no.2.23).

Two further comparable flasks are in the Nasser D. Khalili Collection of Islamic Art, inv. nos. GLS 491 and GLS 77, illustrated in: Goldstein 2005, p.159, nos. 185 and 186.
