Description

la divinité aux douze bras et deux jambes de couleur bleu foncé et aux quatre visages multicolores, debout en pratyalidha enlaçant sa parèdre dont les jambes entourent sa taille, un attribut dans chaque main, son pied droit piétinant Kalaratri et son pied gauche Bhairava couchés sur le dos sur une base lotiforme, auréolé d'une large mandorle enflammée, en haut deux Dakini entourent Avalokitesvara à quatre bras et en bas deux Dakini entourent une corbeille remplie d'offrandes

Acquired in Mongolia in the 1950s.

Condition

The thangka is in good overall condition ; the edges are glued to a narrow wooden frame (painted red) which has not been removed. The painting is very fine and detailed, the actual colors are much more lively than the catalogue illustration suggest ; the green and red are particularly more dense.
