Condition

The following condition report has been kindly prepared by Phil Young of Philip Young Conservation Ltd. The painting is in a good and sound condition with some areas of restoration and retouching. The canvas is flat and at a good tension. The red areas have some surface blanching, apparently due to a removable pale deposit ('efflorescence'). Most of the corners and edges have spotted small inpainting, with slightly broader lines along the lower edge. The lower left edge has some knocks which have been retouched with scattered retouchings and pale scuffs in the red at this corner. Most of the inpainting apparently addresses minor points or wear and abrasion over the canvas texture, there being no evidence of more significant loss or damage.
