Condition

The vase presents in overall very good condition. With some very small and scattered surface scratches consistent with age and gentle handling. With some scattered air bubbles throughout that are inherent in the making. The rim with one extremely minute fleck to the edge. The underbase with very minor surface scratches scattered throughout. This is a rare early example of the form with a brilliant green coloration.

Catalogue Note

Reuben Haley’s “Ruba Rombic” series for the Consolidated Lamp and Glass Company demonstrates the period interest in the avant-garde art movements of the 1920s and 1930s, especially Cubism, which Haley was exposed to when he visited the 1925 Exposition des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris.  The jungle green color of the glass highlights the early design date of the piece and its larger scale would have been a rare occurrence in the manufacturing process.
