Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 6 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. The blown glass base is in remarkably good condition. The blown glass appears to be original and undisturbed with no evidence of damage or cracks. The favrile glass body of the base with a few small air bubble inclusions inherent in the making and with some light surface scratches, most prevalent just below the top bronze elements of the base, presumably from prior surface contact. The patinated bronze surfaces of the base display a rich russet brown patina, with some occasional light surface scratches, abrasions, rubbing, and some scattered areas of patina flaking with associated losses consistent with age and use. The oil font unit was converted to electricity (most likely in the period) and is fitted with a single central electrical socket. The socket and pull chain appear to be period. The three shade arms are bent slightly out of alignment and as a result the shade presently sits slightly askew. (If desired the shade arms could be mechanically adjusted to proper alignment.) The shade arms with expected surface wear with patina rubbing and losses from prior surface contact with the shade. With a reproduction finial. A highly complementary shade and base pairing. The shade is distinguished by its vigorously mottled background glass and unusual coloration.
