the Emperor Constantine depicted standing at left and his mother the Empress Helena at right before an architectural background, the saints flanking the large True Cross in the centre, dressed in costly vestments and wearing imperial crowns decorated with gold and pearls; St Constantine holds a cross and an open scroll in his hands, St Helena holds a sceptre and an open scroll, with Christ appearing in the upper part of the icon in a segment of heaven

Condition

Larger patches of repainting in the white background, in the central part of the cross and in the two open scrolls of Constantine and Helena, some minor retouching to the face of Helena and in the segment of Heaven with Christ, the gilded decoration on the robes of Constantine strengthened in some places
