Condition

Oil on wax-lined canvas. The surface is dirty and covered in a layer of slightly yellowed varnish. The varnish is unevenly distributed in certain areas. There is minor paint loss along the edges and in the corners. There is some minor craquelure and a small scuff mark in the lower left corner and there is evidence of impact craquelure in the top right quartile, along with a faint horizontal stretcher line across the bottom of the composition. There are vertical lines of media staining to the left side of the figure, possibly intentional, which are visible in the catalogue image. Under UV light there are areas of varnish which fluoresce throughout, and some small spots of restoration along the outline of the arm on the right hand side. The opaque layer of uneven varnish prevents a more conclusive examination. Framed in a gold painted frame with plaster molding. Unexamined out of frame.
