Two relief etchings printed in light brown with extensive hand-coloring in watercolor, additions in pen and black ink and highlighted in shell gold, c. 1800-03, numbered 5 and 6 respectively in gray ink in upper right margins, on wove paper, the second with a partial Buttanshaw watermark

Condition

The prints are in good condition, both with wide margins, and fresh colors, a window of very pale light-stain surrounds the images (mainly visible on verso), other pale discolorations in margins. Minor imperfections in the individual plates are as follows: The first plate with the deckle edge below and right, stitching hole visible in left margin, partly filled-in, some pale fox marks, bottom left corner slightly skinned on verso. The second plate with stitching holes visible at left, filled-in, a little pale foxing.
