  • Gelatin silver print
large-format, signed in ink and with the estate copyright stamp and number 'B 5/5' in pencil on the reverse, 1945, probably printed in the 1950s or 1960s (Lisette Model, pl. 19)

Provenance

Christie's London, 31 May 2007, Sale 7393, Lot 11

Condition

This large-format print, on double-weight paper with a surface sheen, is in generally good condition. In raking light, various soft and sharp handling creases are visible, some of which appear to break the emulsion. In the upper portion of the image, there is a long surface scuff that does not disturb the emulsion. In the upper left quadrant, near the sitter's middle finger and on her chest, there are 2 eraser-head-sized matte deposits, likely original retouching. The lower right print corner is creased, as are all 4 margin corners. On the reverse of the print are the following notations in unidentified hands in pencil: '4/6.1,' '5/6,' 'P' (circled), and various inventory numbers. This print has recently undergone minor conservation, primarily surface cleaning. A treatment report is available upon request from the department.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above.
