Catalogue Note

The present work was made at the Royal College of Art in the summer of 1981 for the restauranter, artist and designer Enzo Apicella for his new restaurant Pizza Condotti on Mill Street in London. The materials were sourced by Paolozzi's assistant and model maker Ray Watson. The imagery of the relief relates to prints from the period and to the mosaic decorations he was designing for Tottenham Court Road underground station.

Paolozzi was first commissioned to produce reliefs for London's restauranters in the mid-1970s and they have become an integral part of their history. Clients have included Langan's, the Caprice, the Ivy, Pizza Express and the Neal Street restaurants.
