The pendant of web design, centered by an oval-shaped sapphire weighing approximately 5.00 carats, framed and suspended by nine cabochon peridots, completed by an openwork chain applied with green plique-à-jour enamel, length 15 inches, signed Tiffany & Co.; pendant detachable; circa 1910.

Condition

In good general condition with gentle wear to the gold. The light yellowish green plique-à-jour enamel remains intact on the chain. 10 of the cells to the perimeter of the pendant with missing or significantly damaged enamel. The base of the pendant is composed of fine openwork links of similar design to those in the chain; two sections of these links are missing and there is complete enamel loss to 9 of the remaining cells. The base of the pendant, however, is not visible when worn. The sapphire is medium violet-blue, lightly included and with abrasions to the facet junctions and girdle. The peridots are medium-light yellow-green, with minute abrasions but otherwise eye-clean. Signed on curved applied plaque at bottom of pendant. The pendant with pinstem fittings, but the brooch mechanism is no longer exant. Please note that although this piece is stated to be 18 karat gold in the printed catalogue, it does not bear any assay marks. It does, however, hold up to 18 karat testing acid.
