Of sumptuous royal blue velvet, the frame accented by black enamel stripes and numerous calibré-cut lapis lazuli and green chalcedony with single-cut diamonds set in a geometric motif, the thumbpiece set with an oval-shaped lapis lazuli cabochon accented by black enamel and rose-cut diamonds, completed by a gold link chain, signed S. Cartier, numbered CG 23222, with French assay marks, one diamond missing.
Condition
In very good condition, particularly considering the age of the piece, with no apparent enamel loss and very minor surface scratching visible under magnification. The lapis lazuli segments are a deep blue, with some lighter mottling. The diamonds are near colorless and decorative in quality. One small rose-cut diamond missing from the bezel surrounding the lapis thumbpiece. Length of gold chain is approximately 13½ inches. The interior royal blue satin, fitted with two pockets, in good condition. Please note that the handbag is numbered CG 23222, not SG 23222 as noted in the printed catalogue.
