Description

  • Van Cleef & Arpels
  • gold, yellow sapphire, sapphire, emerald, diamond
Set with two emerald-cut yellow sapphires weighing approximately 88.00 carats and two cushion-cut yellow sapphires weighing approximately 15.35 carats, framed by numerous round emeralds, numerous round sapphires and numerous round diamonds weighing approximately 9.10 carats, signed Van Cleef & Arpels, numbered N.Y. 1420 S.O. With signed pouch.

Condition

In good condition overall. The yellow sapphires are a light slightly grayish yellow, slightly less saturated than the yellow sapphire in the similarly designed ring, lot 267. They are eye-clean, with some very minor surface blemishing visible only under magnification. The 28 round emeralds are a medium slightly bluish green, lightly included and well-matched for color. The 36 round sapphires are a medium deep very slightly violetish blue, also well-matched for color and lightly included. The 90 round diamonds are approximately G-H color, VVS-VS clarity. One of the earclips is signed and the other is numbered "N.Y. 1420 S.O." not "N.Y 1420 S.O." as listed in the printed catalogue. Pieces numbered "S.O." by Van Cleef & Arpels were special orders.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
