Composed of graduated floral plaques set with cushion-shaped rubies, framed by old mine and rose-cut diamonds, spaced by round diamonds weighing approximately 1.60 carats, circa 1870, completed by platinum-topped gold links set with old mine diamonds weighing approximately 2.50 carats, and rose-cut diamonds, circa 1900, length 17¾ inches.

Condition

As noted in the description, the necklace is a marriage of circa 1870 and circa 1900 elements. The collet-set diamond connectors are 20th century. In good general condition with wear to the mountings commensurate with age. The lively, medium to medium-deep pinkish red rubies (redder than they appear in the printed catalogue) are lightly to moderately included with abrasions to the crown facet junctions. The diamonds are G-L color, VS-SI clarity. The clasp with loops to accommodate a non-extant safety chain.
