Sapphire and diamond bangle, late 19th century

Set at the centre with a cushion-shaped sapphire weighing 5.51 carats, within a surround of circular-cut diamonds to a gold hinged bangle, inner circumference approximately 160mm, cluster detachable with hinged suspension loop.

Accompanied by Gubelin report no. 12100099, stating that the sapphire is of Ceylon origin, with no indications of heating. The revised estimate is 9'500 - 14'000 CHF / 10'000 - 15'000 US$. Mounted in silver and gold. According to the Gübelin report, the sapphire weighing 5.51 carats measures 9.40 x 9.28 x 5.89mm; very good transparency, few typical crystal inclusions visible under x10 magnification, few very minor abrasions to facet junctions also visible under magnification; for more information on the sapphire please refer to the report. Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 4.50-5.50 carats, estimated H-J colour, VS-SI clarity. Central cluster detachable and includes hinged suspension loop, detachable safety chain for bangle. Signs of normal wear to the metal consistent with age and use. In good condition.
