Natural pearl and diamond necklace, mid 19th century

Description

  • 18 carat gold, pearl, diamond
Set at the centre with a detachable pendant of flower head design, decorated with natural pearls and rose diamonds, to a textured yellow gold necklace suspending a fringe of natural pearls, highlighted with circular-cut and rose diamonds, French assay and indistinct maker's marks, a few small diamonds deficient.

Condition

Stamped with French assay marks for 18 carat gold. Pearls of silvery white body colour, with various shades of rosé and green overtones, some with growths marks, banding and pitting, overall good lustre. Diamonds of decorative quality. Pendant difficult to detach. Clasp secure. Signs of normal wear to the metal, scratches consistent with use, minor discolouration near the clasp, few dents and few broken links to the reverse around clasp and pendant but not disturbing when worn. In overall good condition.
