Pair of Rhodium-Plated Silver-Topped-Gold and Diamond Pendant-Earclips

bidding is closed

Description

  • rhodium, silver, gold, diamond
Suspending two pear-shaped diamonds weighing 3.43 and 2.99 carats, respectively, framed and surmounted by numerous old mine-cut diamonds weighing approximately 30.50 carats.

Condition

In good condition overall. The diamonds are approximately F-J color, VS-SI clarity, with an occasional I clarity example. The mountings show oxidization due to age, with evidence of repair and solder at the tops of the earclips and where the pendant attaches to the bottom of the earclip. Some of the prongs are worn and bent, but the diamonds seem stable in their mountings. The diamond pairs bisecting the tops and pendants are circa late 19th century, the tops and pendants' mountings are of more modern manufacture, utilizing antique old-mine cut diamonds. Nice movement when worn. 2 1/8 inches in length. Accompanied by two loose collet-set diamonds. Accompanied by two GIA reports: No. 1142728850 stating the 3.43 carat diamond is E color, SI2 clarity and no. 1142726921 stating the 2.99 carat diamond is E color, SI1 clarity.
