Catalogue Note

At the sale in 1988 the tazza formed  part of a very early group of Venetian and Italian pieces (lots 87-90) including a gothic jug and footed bowl. A comparable group of mainly early Venetian pieces sold Sothebys Paris, 25 November 2010, lots 358-362. Another Venetian jug from this latter group which had been owned by a family from the island of Patmos, is now in the Art Institute of Chicago and was illustrated in the 2010 Sothey's catalogue. Another Venetian dish with the same marks as the Chicago jug was sold Sothebys Geneva 8 May 1989, lot 61
