- A FINE AND MASSIVE 18K YELLOW GOLD HUNTING CASED REPEATING SPLIT SECOND CHRONOGRAPH WATCH SET WITH DIAMONDS, SAPPHIRES AND RUBIESCIRCA 1900
- yellow gold, sapphire, ruby and diamond
- diameter 56 mm
• highly jeweled nickel movement, lever escapement, gold cuvette • gilt dial, champlevé green enamel stylized Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds and outer track for chronograph also in green enamel, blued steel moon hands • heavy case intricately engraved in high relief with scrolling foliate decoration, the cover with applied monogram using graduating cabochon sapphires and rubies, and old European-cut diamonds • dial, cuvette and movement signed • total diamond weight approximately 4.00 cts
Condition
The movement is not running or repeating, it requires extensive restoration. The repeat train is gummy from dried oil and the center arbor is broken.There are some light scuffs to the dial. The impressive case lacking four stones (three rubies and one diamond) to the cover.
The stones are exceptionally nice - the rubies and sapphires are bright and lively and semi transparent. The old European-cut diamonds are E-F in color and VS-SI in clarity.
The total weight is 161.6 dwts.
