of saucer shape with lipped rim, the interior well painted with a dragon leaping in pursuit of a 'flaming pearl' among flames and cloud scrolls, the cavetto with two further dragons also in pursuit, the reverse similarly decorated with two dragons above a band of lotus petal lappets, the decoration all in bright translucent yellow on a brilliant underglaze blue wash ground, seal mark in underglaze blue

Provenance

Collection of James and Phyllis Rosati, acquired between 1947 -1949 when Mr. Rosati was stationed in post-war Japan.

Condition

There is a very small chip to the rim at 12 o'clock and minor surface wear to the enamels.
