Catalogue Note
Two horizontal format illustrations to the Bhagavata Purana from Rajasthan, depicting scenes from Krishna's childhood: Krishna playing with the cows and with his doting father; and Krishna and Balarama with the village elders of Gokula. The third illustration from the Punjab Hills depicting Vishnu pacifying a white elephant that emerges from the waters of a lake, is possibly a reference to the Samudra Manthana legend in the Puranas.
