Description

the spinach jade pear-shaped jarlet raised on a low foot, rising to a small metal-mounted mouth, the exterior inlaid with yellow-tinged white jade panels outlined with gilt wire, each panel centred with a green or red glass gem, the celadon jade cover with a flower bud knop, surrounded by incised pendent foliage, the rim finished with a metal ring inlaid with alternating turquoise and ruby coloured red gems

Provenance

Acquired in Paris between the 1970s and the early 90s.

Condition

A few glass gems have possibly been replaced, while some others were probably stabilised or restuck by glue. There is also residue of glue visible at the edges of some panels, possibly for stabilisation. The cover has a 1.6 cm bruise to the edge and a 1 cm chip (with two associated hairline cracks) to the lip on the underside.
