- Signé et situé en bas à gauche E.A.Pavil Rabat, porte au revers le cachet du Salon de 1937 ainsi que l'étiquette de collection de la fille de l'artiste, Luna Pavil, mentionnant le titre Rêverie Abibah et Zorah sur la terrasse. Au loin la kasbah des Oudaïas, et la date 1935

Condition
The painting is in a very good condition.
It is slightly dirty and will respond to a light cleaning.
As we can see on the catalogue illustration, there are two small losses in the paint layer at the upper right corner, and one at the bottom right corner. Also visible on the illustration, there is a little hole near the bottom right corner.
Along the top and bottom borders, we can observe a few pin pricks which are visible on the catalogue illustration.There is also an old fold along the bottom border.

Catalogue Note
Né à Odessa, Pavil s'installe à Paris en 1892. Il devient membre de la société internationale des aquarellistes, et expose au Salon des peintres de Paris en 1910. Après la mort de sa femme, il s'installe au Maroc où il peint des scènes de rue, des portraits d'artisans, ou encore des femmes sur leur terrasse à Fès, Marrakech ou Rabat. Pavil a peint un tableau très similaire au nôtre intitulé Sur la terrasse (Cf. Lynne Thornton, La femme dans la peinture orientaliste, ACR Edition, Paris, 1985, p.50)
