Description

the long slightly curved metal blade tapering to a pointed tip, the gilt-bronze sword guard decorated with a key-fret border, the handle bound by mustard-yellow cord and mounted by gilt-bronze brackets at each end, the brown and creamy white shagreen scabbard similarly decorated with gilt-bronze bands reticulated with dragons, forming the locket, chape and suspension brackets

Condition

There are flakes and losses to the shagreen, with the max. area of loss measuring about 6 x 3.3 cm. The 'dragon' reticulated fittings are loose. There are also typical minor wear to the gilding and minor tarnishing to the blade and fittings.
