Between Italy, Ethiopia, South America and the entrance in comic strip world in 1945, Hugo Pratt had time to become... Hugo Pratt, that is to say a "reality" and a "legend" for his readers or his biographers. Fiction or reality, Hugo Pratt leads his readers in an exceptional travel's world. After many stopovers around the world, he comes back to Italy at the beginning of the 1960's and works for the first time at the Corriere del piccolo since 1962 to 1967. Inspired by Milo Milani's scenario, he writes Billy James, published in Chouchou (1965), a leading magazine of the 1960's, born with Salut les copains's success. Billy James will be edited in 1980, in France, in the Humanoïde Associés. Billy James, without thinking about the international destiny of Corto Maltese, shows the graphic genius of Hugo Pratt.
