Gouache heightened with gold on paper, laid down on card, 3 lines of text in nasta'liq script in one column at the top left corner, accompanying 2-page letter in a circa 1900 hand on 'New York' watermarked paper, describing the miniature and manuscript it was part of

Provenance

Ex-collection Charles Boddam (d.1811). Boddam was an East India Company director, who served as district magistrate in Bengal from 1780-1811.

A handwritten note accompanying the miniature, on 'New York' watermarked paper, suggests that the miniature was in the United States circa 1900.

Condition

In generally good overall condition, slightly rubbed, small areas of retouching, colours bright, gold slightly matt, as viewed.
