Catalogue Note
Taillé dans un bois très dur, ce grand bouclier oblong, cintré en partie supérieure, présente une face gravée et peinte de motifs curvilignes et rectangulaires champlevés. Une poignée est creusée au dos dans l'épaisseur du bois. Les boucliers Asmat de ce type étaient sculptés à l'occasion de la "fête des boucliers", préludant généralement une expédition de chasse aux têtes.
