Description

  • A Greek Gold Olive Wreath
  • Gold
  • Width approx. 9 1/2 in. 24.1 cm.
composed of two olive tree branches bound together at the back with spiral-twisted wire, with lateral shoots of centrally-ribbed leaves and berries attached by long wire stems; the front leaves showing signs of fire damage.

Condition

Very much as shown. Front of wreath evidently damaged by fire in antiquity, several leaves there half melted and crumpled, one of the berries fragmentary, repair to band. In general the wires and leaves are bent overall, and some of the latter are missing their tips.
