Catalogue Note
This cover was placed upon a bowl to form a covered bowl, or sahan. A very similar leather lid is in the Topkapi Palace Museum collection also datable to the 19th Century (illustrated in Atasoy 1992, pp.198-199, inv. no.31/1181).
