Catalogue Note

The style of floral decoration associated with the court painter, Kara Memi, began to be applied in the full polychrome palette of Iznik pottery, including red, from the 1560s (Atasoy and Rabyn 1989, p.222-230). This form of decoration when applied in an asymmetrical design provides some of the most romantic visions of the Iznik potter (ibid., p.229, nos.401-405).
