Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 75 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout which is a reasonable number in proportion to the vast number of glass tiles which were required to execute this complex and monumental shade. While all of these cracks appear stable, the shade would benefit from sensitive restoration to both clean and stabilize some of these cracks as a preventive measure, most notably the few isolated glass tiles with multiple fractures. The shade with surface soling along the contours of the shade leading. The reticulated bronze branching in the upper register of the shade with some minor surface wear and light rubbing to the areas of high relief, as is commonly seen, as well as some surface soiling to the recessed contours. The patinated bronze surfaces of the Tree base with some occasional minor surface scratches, abrasions and rubbing to the patina consistent with age and gentle use. The casting quality of the Tree base is incredibly fine, displaying exceptional crisp detail to the branching, as well as a particularly rich green and russet brown patina. The base is fitted with a six-socket cluster. All six sockets and paddle switches appear to be original and undisturbed. The cushion base was not originally fitted with a base switch and is therefore activated by the socket switches or the cord switch presently installed. The lamp displays beautifully in person, with impressive scale and presence, and a very dynamic glass selection and color palette, most notably distinguished by the use of vibrant reds and pinks to articulate the blossoms, and the full range of greens ranging from celery to grass green. The irregular border is thoughtfully accented with a range of vibrant reds, pinks and emerald greens. The bright pink accents used throughout the shade display an interesting use of textured Granite glass on the shade interior to add visual interest and depth.
