Condition

Overall very good original condition. When examined under blacklight, the bowl shows no evidence of prior restoration. The bowl is hand-thrown and presents with minor inconsistencies to the surface as seen in the catalogue illustration. This work is articulated using a “crater” glaze which results in a significant depth and texture to the both the interior and exterior of the vase. The bright yellow tone of the high of points of the surfaces are offset by the black glaze used to render the low points. The crater glaze treatment approaches the foot of the vase, but remains ¼ inch from the bottom of the edge of the foot, allowing the vase to sit evenly and safely.
