The present work is a study for the The Nativity commissioned in 1887 for the gothic revival interior of the Church of St. John in Torquay, England, (later sold, Sotheby's, London, November 21, 1989, lot 31, and now held by the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh Heinz Family Fund, 1997.26.2).
The paper is laid down on board which has slightly discolored the paper in several areas. Spots of foxing in the upper left are visible as is a faint mat burn along all edges. There are no visible signs of loss or tears. In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above.
