the top surmounted by an inset brèche violette marble top within a heart and swag cast gallery, the top revolving to mechanically open four frieze compartments lined with brocade, the underside stenciled MILLET/PARIS/50 Rue Saint Sabin

Condition

Overall in good condition. Restoration is required to re-attach the interior mechanism to two of the four frieze compartments, currently they are not opening automatically when the top is rotated. The veneers with nicks, scratches, some age cracks and small losses throughout. The gilt bronze with scratches, areas of tarnishing and significant surface dirt throughout, consistent with age and use. The marble top with scratches. The brocade lining of the compartments with surface dirt and rips, and has become detached in several places.
