  • Vellum
five leaves, each 160mm. by 110mm., with three-quarter page miniatures of (a) Pentecost, with the Virgin and apostles with delicately pounced haloes, her hands crossed across her chest, as the Dove descends, and (b) David in prayer, kneeling between rocky outcrops each with a wooded thicket on top, both scenes before tessellated backgrounds of gold and coloured tiles touched with penwork, above 3-line coloured initials on burnished gold grounds, all within wide frames of coloured fleshy foliage on burnished gold grounds with acanthus-leaf sprays at their corners, and full borders of single-hairline foliage sprays terminating in gold and coloured flowers and leaves; text leaves with 3-line initials as above, borders of hairline foliage with gold and coloured flowers and leaves on two sides, and numerous smaller initials in gold on blue or pink grounds heightened with white penwork, 15 lines, slight scuffing and small losses in places, else good
