Condition

Overall in good condition. This lamp is being consigned by descendants of the original owners, and by all accounts the shade, base and finial have originated together. The shade with approximately 6 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. The shade leading, which shows traces of the original gilding throughout to match the base, has been rubbed, presumably from prior cleaning. The eight small glass cabochons which would have originally been mounted to the slender ring collar above the double-cushion base are presently lacking. (If desired period glass Tiffany cabochons could easily be found and mounted to the base.) The gilt bronze base displays exceptional casting, with gentle rubbing to the patina and surface soiling throughout, especially to some of the recessed contours. The base switch, sockets and matching gilt finial all appear to be original and undisturbed. A fine example of this highly desirable desk lamp model. All of the colors throughout the shade are more vibrant, especially the light cobalt blue background glass, than seen in the catalogue illustration which is slightly too dark.
